Built in Cape Town, working across the Peninsula
Tropical Refrigeration has been serving Cape Town since 2013, with our base in Montague Gardens and jobs across Milnerton, Bellville, Claremont, Somerset West, Fish Hoek and the CBD. The team works on home aircons, office systems and commercial refrigeration, with the kind of practical knowledge that matters when the power trips, a cold room warms up or a unit starts leaking in summer.
We know the local conditions too. Coastal air can be hard on outdoor units, and a lot of calls come in after load-shedding when systems need checking, resetting or topping up. The people you speak to here are the same ones who plan the job, turn up on site and sort out the details.
- Installations for homes, flats, offices and shops
- Repairs, gas refills and leak finding
- Cold room and freezer fault work
- Servicing that helps units run better through the season
Mandla Petersen leads the business
Mandla Petersen is the Managing Director and has guided the company since 2013. He keeps the work practical and hands-on, with a clear focus on doing the job properly the first time. Mandla has built the business around reliable service, honest recommendations and an understanding of what Cape Town customers actually need, whether that is a quick repair in Bellville or a full installation in Somerset West.
He stays close to the technical side as well as the admin side, so customers are not passed around. If there is a problem with scheduling, a tricky site layout or a unit that needs careful fault finding, Mandla is involved in making sure the right person handles it.
- Planning for domestic and commercial work
- Clear job decisions and straightforward communication
- Support for repeat maintenance and breakdown response
Anele Jacobs keeps operations moving
Anele Jacobs is the Operations Manager and the person who keeps the day moving when several jobs are running at once. From coordinating site access to checking which tools and parts are needed, Anele makes sure the team arrives prepared. That matters when a freezer in a restaurant needs attention before trading starts, or when an office aircon stops cooling in the middle of a hot spell.
He works closely with the service counter and technicians, balancing urgent callouts with scheduled work. It means customers get realistic timing, not guesses. He also helps make sure the crew knows about building rules, parking limits and access arrangements before they reach site.
- Job scheduling and route planning
- Parts and equipment coordination
- Site access and customer updates
Technical work led by Ridwaan Daniels and Lindiwe Mokoena
Ridwaan Daniels is the Senior Refrigeration Technician, and he handles fault finding on systems that need careful diagnosis. He works on cold room repairs, freezer repairs, compressor replacement and thermostat replacement, often in cases where the first signs are small, like rising temperatures or a unit that cycles too often. His approach is steady and detail-focused, which helps avoid repeat breakdowns.
Lindiwe Mokoena leads aircon installations and makes sure each fitment is done with proper placement, drainage and airflow in mind. She knows how important the small things are, especially in apartments, offices and shops where space is tight. If an installation is rushed, it can cost more later, so she keeps an eye on the finish as well as the function.
- Ridwaan handles refrigeration fault diagnosis and component replacement
- Lindiwe supervises aircon installations and setup quality
- Both work with coastal humidity, load-shedding stress and busy commercial sites
Keegan van Wyk and Zanele Ndlovu keep customers informed
Keegan van Wyk is the Service Coordinator, and he is usually the person making sure the right technician gets to the right address at the right time. He helps organise repair visits, follow-up work and service bookings from the CBD through to Fish Hoek. If a customer needs a gas refill after a slow leak or a second visit for a hard-to-pinpoint fault, Keegan helps keep the process steady and clear.
Zanele Ndlovu is the Customer Care Lead and the first point of contact for many bookings. She keeps communication simple and useful, which customers appreciate when they are trying to get an aircon fixed before guests arrive or a freezer checked before stock is affected. She also helps make sure each enquiry is handled properly, not left hanging.

The team culture behind the service
What ties the team together is a practical way of working. Everyone understands that a warm office, a faulty freezer or a noisy aircon is not just a small inconvenience, it can interrupt a whole day of work. That is why the team keeps a calm pace, checks the details and explains what needs to happen next.
There is also a strong respect for the local conditions in Cape Town. Some jobs are in coastal homes where corrosion is a concern, others are in busy commercial areas with limited access or strict building rules. The team plans for that, and it shows in the way the work is carried out. It is straightforward, tidy and on point, with no unnecessary drama.
For homes and businesses across the Cape Peninsula, these are the people who keep Tropical Refrigeration moving.
