What Kind of People We Hire
We build teams around real service work, not office talk. If you have experience in air-conditioning, refrigeration, electrical fault finding, installations, or client support, we would like to hear from you. We also take on people who are keen to learn and can handle a busy schedule across Cape Town and the Peninsula.
Our work ranges from split unit installations in apartments to cold room repairs for shops and restaurants. On some days you are in the CBD or Claremont, on others you are in Milnerton, Bellville, Somerset West or Fish Hoek. So you need to be organised, practical, and able to work under load-shedding, tight access, and coastal humidity.
Roles We Commonly Recruit For
We do not keep people in narrow boxes. Depending on the needs of the business, we may recruit for field work, coordination, customer handling, or workshop support. The main roles we often need are listed below.
- Aircon installation assistants and installers
- Refrigeration technicians and service technicians
- Gas refill and leak detection support staff
- Cold room and freezer repair technicians
- Service coordinators and booking support
- Customer care and admin support
Some roles are full-time and hands-on in the field. Others are based from our Montague Gardens office and help keep jobs booked, parts tracked, and clients updated.
What Day-to-Day Work Looks Like
Our team works on homes, offices, small businesses and commercial sites. That means you may be checking an aircon that is blowing warm air, replacing a thermostat, or tracing a refrigerant leak that is causing poor cooling. You may also be asked to service ventilation systems, clear drainage issues, or assist with a compressor replacement.
Good work here is neat work. Pipes must be run properly, panels closed correctly, and sites left clean. Clients in Cape Town expect punctual service and clear communication, especially when they are dealing with heat, spoiled stock, or a stopped aircon in mid-summer. A missed appointment costs everyone time so reliability matters a lot.
What We Look For In A Candidate
We value steady hands, common sense, and respect for customers. You do not need to be perfect, but you must be safe, teachable, and willing to learn our way of doing things. If you can work well with a team and handle tools, ladders, gauges, and site rules, that helps.
- Punctual and presentable
- Clear speaking and writing skills
- Ability to work in homes and commercial spaces
- Basic fault finding and problem solving
- Respect for health and safety rules
- Willingness to work in hot, busy or tight spaces
Experience in coastal conditions is useful, especially where salt air, corrosion, and blocked condensate lines can cause repeat faults.
How To Send Your CV
If you would like to be considered, email your CV to bookings@tropicalrefrigeration.co.za. Please include your name, suburb, contact number, work history, and the type of role you are looking for. If you have trade papers, safety certificates, or a driver’s licence, mention those as well.
We read every application carefully. If your experience matches what we need, we will contact you when a suitable opening comes up. Please do not send long messages with no contact details, because that slows things down and makes follow-up harder.
Why People Stay With The Team
We have been serving Cape Town since 2013, and many clients come back to us because they want direct answers and reliable service. That same standard applies inside the business too. People stay where the work is fair, the tools are usable, and the team pulls together when the day gets busy.
From our Montague Gardens base, we support jobs across Cape Town CBD, Milnerton, Bellville, Claremont, Somerset West and Fish Hoek. It is practical work with proper variety, and it suits people who want to build a solid career in air-conditioning and refrigeration.
